Moonlighting
Broad
expanse of starry sky
Naked
and beheld by all
Free
for all to touch
Dark clouds like waves pass
There
in the midst of the patterns
Stood
the half-moon
A
face full of smiles
Upon
a closer look
I
see your other part
Concealed
to the naked eye
But
there all the same
A
crescent you remain
Yet
shining with dignity
Waiting
to fully appear
In
all your glory
You
are many things
To
many people
To
me, you are a smiling face
Smiling
down at mankind
You
smile at kids playing
You
smile at lovers reclining
You
even smile at proud and vain men
You
smile at the renegade
You always smile with
understanding
That
all is but vanity
