A place in the Olympics

The Olympic Games will soon be over until the next one in 2014.

The reality is that we are all competitors in the world 'Olympics'. We are in all kinds of races in life. Just like the Olympians, we shine in some and struggle in others.

But what marks a great sportsperson? Perseverance, determination, discipline, diligence, hard-work, stepping outside comfort zones. It always pays off in some form. We need to borrow a leaf from the attitude of successful athletes. These adjectives apply to everyone. To succeed we need to cultivate these attributes. My high school motto "Faithfulness in little things" and the saying "If at first you did not succeed, try try again" come to mind.

What are your goals in the races you are entered in? What are you doing to achieve them?

Emulate the Olympic athletes.... We are all athletes in some form: career, education, family and all other spheres of life. We all have a place in the Olympics. It may not be in London :) but it is real. Give it your best shot and you'll most likely go away with a medal.
