Keeping up with social media trends

Social media people

In today’s world where a trending technological product becomes obsolete in six months, I sometimes wonder how a person who is fixated on having the latest products copes with these rapid changes. Since this is not an academic inquiry, I will leave it to my imagination. It must be exciting and at the same time frustrating. I know those emotions; except that in my case they are directed at the world of social media.

I find it exciting and frustrating keeping up with the diverse and still increasing social media outlets out there. In an attempt to increase the traffic to my websites, I registered with most of the popular social media sites : Facebook, Youtube, Myspace, twitter, Squidoo, Stumbleupon, Digg, LinkedIn and a couple of others. That was a few years ago. At that time, I was also on blogspot and felt like a Jack of all trades; master of none. In 2010, I decided to focus on just a couple of social media outlets.

Today, I still acknowledge the benefits of sharing each article or blog on the various social bookmarks on the articles. The social media resources are good ways of drawing more traffic. I also know that how much I patronize the numerous outlets largely depends on my goals for setting up the websites.

For now, I am content using mostly Facebook, Twitter and occasionally Youtube. That may change in the future; who knows…..

Hope the New Year is off to a good start for you. Regardless, I hope you have an awesome 2012.
