Choosing a place for private study at university

Study facilities in tertiary institutions include classrooms, seminar rooms, laboratories, the library and other places which are available and conducive for private study and/or group discussions. Of all these facilities the library is the most important and conducive place for private study. It is an ideal study place for many reasons, including the following:

Guy studying in library
  • No distraction from friends
  • Less movement of people
  • Silence
  • Studious and healthy atmosphere
  • Little or no temptation to relax and go to sleep
  • Proximity of reference materials (e.g. books, journals, etc).

Your room in the hostel may not be suitable for reading because it represents the opposite of the library. It is even less suitable if you are sharing the room with another student.

The choice of a place to read has to be based on practical considerations but it has to be what works for you.

Have a successful time reading!
